Vacation home complex in Eastern Finland

Year of construction: 2022
Developer: Private individual
Designer: Risto Vuolle-Apiala

Hirsityö Heikkilä completed a total of five hand-carved log buildings in Eastern Finland for a vacation home complex. The buildings, designed by architect Risto Vuolle-Apiala, were crafted from 250 mm thick solid logs, with saddle notch joints used for the corners.

The impressive massive wooden roof truss structures are also the work of Hirsityö Heikkilä. The sauna is made of aspen, while the other buildings are constructed from pine. A unique feature of the sauna is the use of spruce rootstocks as the framework for the benches.
